Rowan is a paediatric and adult Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon. He entered medical school following his time at Blackwood High School because his love of interacting and getting to know people. Rowan was part of the first cohort of medical students at the University of Adelaide who volunteered to undertake training in rural areas, including Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Whyalla, Port Lincoln, Boolaroo Centre and Broken Hill. This time inspired his passion for serving rural South Australia and far west NSW. Rowan met his wife during medical school and they married one week after their final exams. Click to learn more.
Rowan has many research interests and published widely during his career. His PhD investigated the most appropriate management of catastrophic bleeds during skull base surgery (surgery done through the nose at the bottom of the brain). As a result of this research, he has developed and run training courses for surgeons all over the world. His work is widely recognised as setting the gold standard in the treatment of carotid artery injuries. Click to learn more.
